Getting three of the busiest women in the entertainment industry together for a cover shoot was “no easy feat” describes Lynn Norment of Ebony magazine. After filming wrapped for The Secret Life Of Bees in February, it took the Toronto International Film Festival to get these three women together for their cover feature story shoot. 

When Jennifer Hudson got the call to sing the national anthem at the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver, Alicia was across the Atlantic “on vacation in Europe, watching it on TV, mesmerized that this historic event was taking place in my lifetime.” Same with Latifah, vacationing in Spain, she was apart of the nearly 40 million viewers who watched the 2008 DNC. Alicia speaks about just how importing voting is: “I’m very passionate about this election,” says the singer. “In every interview and show I do, I stress the importance to vote for Obama. I also plan to join the campaign for some fundraising events.”
